Aloha!

Thanks for stopping by!

...Just a born and raised, tried and true local boy, I am, while wifey is originally from Kyushu, Japan. We both share a love for eachother and a love for outdoor activities of every kind, as well as reading, traveling, working out, cooking... Heck, we're pretty much game for anything!  But I guess you may be looking for degrees, certifications, resume's, or other applicable qualifications?

Hmmmm.... High school count? Sorry, but aside from being employed in the visitor industry for the last 15 years or so, that's about all I got!  Far be it from me to pretend being something I'm not - all I know is that I love food, I love writing, I love a good photograph, and I'm having a heck of a lot of fun doing this site!  And wifey's happy, too, because she gets to eat!  Here we are, on assignment and working hard!

About the Site

Aku eats is divided up into two basic sections, the main guide pages and the "Closer Look" blog-style pages. However, you never know what else is coming. In fact, neither do I! This site seems to take on a life of it's own sometimes, but for now, we'll just focus on the two features I just listed.

The main pages are accessed by the list of tabs (American, Japanese, French, etc.) on the left side of every page, which are themselves often broken down into further sub-groups so you can easily find your way to whatever food type you are looking for. Far from being a site just for locals, visitors to the islands will also benefit greatly from these pages, especially the Local Grindz section, as there are explanations on all the different foods found here. Manapua, malasada, and crack seed may be every-day terms for us locals, but that may not be the case for everyone.

"Closer Look" pages are basically blog-style pages that are much more casual and entertaining, and also come with better pic's and a lot more explanation regarding a single restaurant or experience. I get just a little more creative without having to stick by the necessarily rigid structure of the main pages.
